Lupus Anticoagulant Screen

Justification

LAs are heterogeneous IgG autoantibodies that bind to phospholipids. LAs are identified by their ability to prolong clot-based assays that have reduced reagent phospholipid. This panel employs two clot-based assays, a lupus-sensitive aPTT and dilute Russell Viper Venom time, and an antibody assay, Anticardiolipin Antibody (IgG, IgM, IgA), to screen for the presence of a lupus anticoagulant. Lupus anticoagulant antibodies increase the risk of arterial thrombosis, venous thrombosis, thrombocytopenia and recurrent miscarriage.
